There needs to be sustained and real action on the part of OUSD to address the history of marginalizing Black students and undermining schools that serve bipoc communities.

As someone who has attended and worked in OUSD schools, I have seen firsthand the systemic racism/white supremacist structure of our schools and the lifelong harm this causes black students. If you believe Black Lives Matter, then put your money where your mouth is and invest in black students.
    Thank you!

Vote yes to support Reparations for Black Students. As a SPED teacher I know how crucial it is.... we cannot continue to let Black students fall behind and support the school to prison pipeline.

I urge the board to vote UNANIMOUSLY in support of Reparations for Black Students. If we are about serving the whole child, we must pass Reparations for Black students. If we are about eliminating inequity, we must pass Reparations for Black students. And if we are about providing each child with excellent teachers, every day, we need to invest in Black Educators, and we must pass Reparations for Black students. As a district committed to restorative practices, this is an essential step towards repairing the harm of the decades of anti-black racism that our black students, families, educators and community face.
