It's not enough to celebrate diversity and denounce racism. We must be actively anti-racist, which means doing the work to change the system. Please VOTE YES on the Reparations for Black Students Resolution - to repair the harm caused by decades of disinvestment - and to reinvest in Black students, families, schools, and staff in OUSD.

I urge the School Board to vote yes on the Reparations for Black Students Resolution. Black students in Oakland deserve investment in their education and their futures. This is a first step towards repairing the harm that has and continues to be done to Black students in OUSD.

Please VOTE YES on the Reparations for Black Students Resolution - to repair the harm caused by decades of disinvestment - and to reinvest in Black students, families, schools, and staff in OUSD. The School Board can either choose to support Black students or continue the anti-Black status quo. Please pass this resolution to put Black students first!

Let's actually make Black History this month and pass the Reparations for Black Students Resolution now! I urge the board to vote YES. This is a major step beyond hashtags, beyond signs in windows, beyond teaching about history, that really shows we value Black lives and are committed to Black students having the experience they deserve in OUSD. It's time to repair harm and create a path for the future. Pass this resolution today!

I strongly urge you to VOTE YES on the Reparations for Black Students Resolution. The harm caused by decades of disinvestment must be repaired. It is high time that OUSD reinvested in Black students, families, schools, and staff. The fact that we have lost 18,000 Black students and many Black educators over the past 20 years underscores the immediate importance of this issue.
