14-0998 Ratification by the Board of Education of Amendment No. 1, Professional Services Contract between the District and Tiago J. Robinson, Pinole, CA, for the latter to provide an additional 200 hours of service as follows: coordinate the Safe & Supportive Schools (S3) site project; monitor project implementation to ensure that programmatic interventions are implemented as described in the work plan; coordinate the annual Cal-SCHL Survey among all students, staff, and parents and ensure a 60% response rate for students and staff; maintain required documentation of all project services, activities, accomplishments, and program records; work with school and District staff to develop and submit the S3 annual progress reports and expenditure reports and maintain and/or monitor any budget or project modifications; work with site and District staff to ensure that funds are expended for allowable costs in compliance with the approved budget; comply with CDE evaluator requirements; coordinate ongoing data collection for evaluation purposes; facilitate and document S3 intervention team meetings; assist principal in organizing and conducting monthly town hall meetings in different locations throughout Oakland; organize 'No Bully' training for teachers and other staff; and coordinate and monitor the S3 project, at OHS, for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, in an additional amount not to exceed $10,000.00, increasing the Contract not to exceed amount from $60,000.00 to $70,000.00. All other terms and conditions of the Contract remain in full force and effect.

14-0809 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Zachary Reidman, Berkeley, CA, for the latter to expand a community garden at Oakland International High School located at 4521 Webster Street; coordinate with bilingual community navigators to support newcomer refugee families with garden plots and affiliated programming, and coordinate and consult with FSCP staff member Nate Dunstan, Refugee and Aslyee Program Specialist; oversee family outreach and "on-boarding", building of the garden beds, planting, necessary materials and donations, and the development and implementation of a garden based ELD and health curriculum, so refugee families who participate in the garden will have a plot of rich soil to grow their own food and work with their family and others from the community, practice and improve their English and increase their comfort and experience interfacing with District staff and school campus which, in turn, will increase their comfort interacting with their child's school; finally, they will be able to spend a significant amount of time outside each week, taking part in a healthy, productive activity that will benefit their family in a variety of ways, for the period of October 1, 2013 through August 15, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $9,000.00.
