My name is Trisha and I'm a 7th grade scholar at Lodestar Middle School. I love my school because they spend thousands even millions of dollars on our supplies so we don't need to buy them. If Lodestar Charter does not get renewed, hundreds of teachers will lose their job, hundreds of students will lose their school and their future. Please renew Lodestar's Charter. Lodestar Charter is a wonderful and supportive educational community for all learners, where teachers and staff are committed to providing exceptional learning opportunities for all students, while building strong and positive relationships with families. I am a special education teacher at Lodestar, and have been amazed at the dedication and collaboration that teachers and leadership demonstrate with students and families in order to support the whole student- academically, socio-emotionally, and in whatever way to ensure students and families feel seen and heard. My name is India and I am a 9th grader at Lodestar High School. I been here since 6th grade and I would love to see our school grow. I appreciate the teachers and how much they want to see the kids succeed and the loving community we have. I also plan to graduate from Lodestar High in 2024.
As a coach for EL Education, I’ve worked with more than 40 schools across the country over the past 19 years. Lodestar is one of them. I’ve been privileged to get to collaborate with a crew of educators more dedicated to their students and their families than at most schools I’ve had experience with. These teachers, leaders and support staff are relentless in challenging themselves to improve, adopting new skills and strategies to meet the needs of their entire community. New schools inevitably experience growing pains; they are complex systems that, by necessity, evolve and tweak to improve results. Recognizing this, the Lodestar crew is persistent in collectively analyzing outcomes, not just traditional test score measures but the quality of work students produce and the character of the children they get to teach, and they make the moves that matter for their students’ learning. This is truly a school that Oakland’s students deserve, and that will continue to enrich your community.
My daughter is a very happy second grader at Lodestar. Every year since she started, their she has had wonderful teachers. And she greets us everyday with stories from her eventful day. Ms. Jimerson, and Ms. Do have created a special school, balancing, rigor, a varied curriculum, and educating children’s to be compassionate citizens. We look forward to sending our younger child there and the school expansion though 12th grade. I have no regrets of letting my daughter attend a Charter School with wonderful teacher’s, and principal that show the love for all their students education. With people who care about them. “Let’s keep our head up” God we’ll answer all prayer. Thank you!

Lodestar is an intentional, inclusive, responsive community that respects Oakland students and families and truly values their voices and their needs. This community supports and empowers students and the staff work hard to bring culturally relevant curriculum and a variety of learning styles in order to reach all students and help them build academic and life skills. It is a school that walks the talk when it comes to serving our community in Sobrante Park. Lodestar is a shinning bright star on 105th and Edes where students are engaged in curriculum that matters to our students as well as the love and support so our scholars can reach their goals to become who they want to become in our world !!! I have been attending lodestar for 4 years now, and my 4 years being at lodestar have been amazing all my teachers help their students in any way they can they support us and help us get thru tuff times we have, and Over all please re-new lodestar/lighthouse because its an amazing loving community your children would love to be in!
I am a parent of two children would has been attending Loadstar for over 5 years. In my with experience with Loadstar I really value the school's approach with educating our children. There are various nuances at Loadstar that afford children to really have the best education and great experiences to enhance their learning.
I support and encourage OUSD to continue supporting our families and the Loadstar/ Lighthouse vision.
Lodestar should stay open because for the last 4 years I have learn so much. The teachers really support me and helped me become more independent in my learning.
I support Lodestar, because as a parent I need choices and opportunities to put my child in a different path than what I was presented as an adolescent. Lodestar is doing an awesome job keeping my child safe, engaged and as well as communicating on what is expected from me and my child through day to day activities. Even with this pandemic they have organized very well as far as other parents compared to their children's school. Personally their doing a great job and applaud them for their dedication and work.
