Children needs a school like this to become a Good citizen and will help to develop their knowledge and experience the life they deserve. I support Lighthouse CPS for the future of our kids.
I am a teacher at Lodestar and am humbled every day by the commitment of our families, my colleagues, and our leaders to our core values of community, integrity, social justice, agency, and love. As a teacher at Lodestar, I feel supported and trusted to do my best work. My colleagues and I make data informed decisions and empower our students to complete rigorous and meaningful work. We are asset-based and I have never heard a Lodestar colleague speak ill of a student. Our families work with us as partners in the education of their children. Our leaders are tremendous models of integrity and determination; especially during remote learning as they are doing everything possible to hold our students and families with love. Above all, our students feel safe, loved, and held to the highest expectations.
Aside from the fact that they are supporting and picking up the slack from families who were failed by the public school system in Oakland this school has been instrumental in my childrens education for the last few years!!! It has been a trying year for us all and at the end of the day the childrens future should matter more than politics within OUSD
During the pandemic, Lighthouse has been able to pivot and improve distance learning! It is dedicated to ensuring all students - especially first-generation college-goers - are ready for the rigors of high school and on the path to college! Renew Lighthouse!

Please re-new Lighthouse! Coming from two other schools prior to attending this one my daughter disliked going to school, Lighthouse has made her love school she feels supported & cared for! Our East Oakland communities deserves schools with dedication, equality, love, respect & integrity & Lighthouse is a great example of that!!
When I immigrated with both parents and three siblings in 1988 the first city we moved to in California was Oakland, specifically East Oakland. Over three decades later, I've returned as an educator specifically to work in East Oakland and specifically at Lodestar because they in addition to having the right people to make transformational change within the community for years to come, we also have an incredibly powerful and vital community of caregivers and families who have chosen us and trust our school to provide their youngsters the highest quality of support academically and socioemotionally. To that end, I am emphatically requesting for you to please renew Lodestar. Our children deserve it. Our families deserve to have their choice and voice heard and honored.
My children, especially my oldest son who has autism, are thriving at Lodestar. The Lodestar team deeply know our son's passions, strengths and needs. With the support of an aide and a general ed team that collaborates closely with his IEP team, he is thriving in an inclusion setting. Even now during the pandemic, he continues to receive daily personalized touchpoints, small group support, and continued speech/social-emotional services. Lodestar goes above and beyond to partner with families to bring to life our school's core values of love, integrity, social justice and agency. Please renew Lodestar, Oakland children deserve it.
I am a proud Oakland resident of 21 years and mother to two Lodestar students. As a public educator, I am certain there is not another school in Oakland that can serve my children better. They are known well by their crew leader, they are getting exactly what they need during the pandemic (including counseling and additional academic support), and they are learning rich and meaningful content. Lodestar needs to be renewed - not only for my own children, but for the incredible outcomes it will continue to get for East Oakland kids and families for years and years to come.

Lighthouse and Lodestar charter should be renewed. The staff and admins work together to create awesome learning experiences for students.
