As a Black male alumni of OUSD and a former OUSD educator, the systems that were/are in place have had affects on my education and definitely as an educator in this district. Cost is not an excuse for creating a fund for Reparations for Black students. Money is never an issue to push personal agendas, why should it be an issue when promoting equity and justice.

I support Reparations for black students and oppose the closing of more schools at this moment. Let's use the funds coming in because of COVID to address the opportunity gap our schools have been suffering under for decades.

This school district is failing black students and has for generations. As a teacher and a parent of OUSD, I urge you to VOTE YES on the Reparations for Black Students Resolution. It is absolutely necessary for the well being of Oakland and the future of all young people in Oakland. Oakland cannot flourish without the success of its Black students.
