Please vote YES on reparations for Black students. I've been teaching in OUSD for 18 years and our kids deserve this! It is past time to repair the harm caused by decades of disinvestment - and to reinvest in Black students, families, schools, and staff in OUSD. I am in support!
I fully support the Reparations Resolution for Black students in OUSD. This is especially important now with the Black community being disproportionately affected by COVID. I urge others to stand with the Black community and with the Black students of Oakland and support this resolution.

I support this effort to address inequities within education and our Oakland community. My hope is that it becomes a model for districts nationwide. My fear is that the funding will be forced to come from schools' already tight budgets. So please advocate for additional funds to create this change.
I have been a teacher for 12 years and I am in full support of this resolution. This is something that has been a long time coming and from what I see included, means that Black students will be getting the supports that they deserve and that are needed in order to build more equitable schools. This could be huge for us as a district and we could serve as an example for others to follow!

Writing as a mother of two OUSD students (Sequoia and Bret Harte). It is time to invest in our Black students. After decades of disinvestment, our Black students, teachers, and communities deserve to be uplifted and cherished. I’m urging OUSD to fight systemic racism and interrupt institutional bias. This is the time. It has to be now.
