14-2413 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Camille Carroll Jackson, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide the following services: work with all administrators to improve the social-emotional growth for all students as needed daily; provide support and lead group sessions with parents, staff, and students to facilitate positive and productive methods of communication to improve school climate and environment; provide conflict mediation to all stakeholders to guide resolutions for disputes ensuring that all parties peacefully agree; work with African American, Man-Up classroom teacher to help students use positive & respectful communication, provide coping mechanisms and strategies for students to use thereby - preventing violence at school site; lead the COST Team providing strategies and support to identified at-risk students who are in need of mental health, medical, and Special Education Services to at least 10% of students with a total population of nearly 890, provide varied student interventions to reduce student suspension rate; in coordination with the site administrators, recruit, train, and oversee a representative group of student peer mediators, and conduct mediation sessions; support member of the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) team to work collaboratively with all stake holders while introducing/implementing new district-wide approach to student discipline; gather data for conflict mediation and PBIS discipline measures to identify best practices and determine what is successful to continue school wide implementation; and prepare and present reports in the areas of student discipline, peer mediation, conflict mediation for administrators to ensure that written documentation is on file for review, at Montera Middle School, for the period December 1, 2014 through June 19, 2015, in an amount not to exceed $35,000.00.
