    kevin to 9 months ago

Hello, my name is Kevin To. I am 14 years old and I’m in the 8th grade. I am a student in OUSD. I believe in a free Palestine because there is a lot of unnecessary violence and oppression between Israel and Palestine.
This issue impacts everybody in Palestine and Israel as both groups of people are dying and there is a lot of footage of this conflict and there are many people disturbed by it. We should be showing solidarity for the people of Palestine and Israel because they are all being heavily affected by this conflict.
I identify as a Vietnamese-American and some of my relatives have gone through the Vietnam war, though this doesn’t affect my view of the Palestine-Israel conflict. I hope you as adults, parents and educators can at the very least consider voting for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine.

    Richard Martin 9 months ago

Hello, my name is Richard. I am 14 years old and I am in 8th grade in OUSD. I believe Palestine should get supported because imagine we were in their shoes how would we feel? What would we want? This issue impacts the people of the United states and the people of Israel. Many people think we support our country's actions towards Palestine but we do not. This also impacts Israelis. There is much hatred towards them just because Israel is attacking Palestine. When it comes to solidarity it’s our job as people to help one another. If your home was bombed right now how would you want people to support you? This issue affects us because if we don't get a permanent ceasefire then many people will die every day. I hope you, as adults, parents and educators, can see in my point of view and encourage other people to vote yes on a permanent ceasefire resolution. Thank you for your time.

Hello, My name is Brandon. I am 13 years old and I am in the 8th grade. I live in District 7, represented by director Clifford Thompson. I believe in a free Palestine because people and youth should not endure the effects of war while being in the crossfire. In Palestine, people are starving, dying and losing their homes. Kids at My school want an end to this Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This issue impacts Israel and Palestinian youth and other family members. It is important to show solidarity because we are all human and should care for one another instead of causing and afflicting acts of violence towards each other. This worldwide issue affects people in Oakland by influencing racist hate towards kids or adults of Palestinian or Israeli ancestry. I hope we as humans can see the consequences of war between different countries and as adults, you can start showing solidarity by protesting and spreading the word of a free Palestine. Chuy Valle 9 months ago

We demand that President Davis adhere himself to the bylaw of the OUSD board, and AGENDIZE THE CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION that a majority of the board supports. During his first month in office, President Davis has illegally silenced the ceasefire resolution, which a majority of the board wants to agendize (OUSD Bylaw 9322). Arab, Muslim and Palestinian students do not feel safe at school because of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the silence in their schools, and the censorship around talking about Palestine. This is causing a significant drop in attendance from our Arab students. President Davis is responsible for representing OUSD students and following our democratic processes to address school district concerns. This resolution process has included countless meetings with board members and community members who are responding to the impact of this humanitarian crisis on our students. President Davis - Stop silencing community voices and agendize Resolution No. 2324-0159 for a vote.

    Hilda Carrillo 9 months ago

Hello my name is Hilda Carrillo. I am 14 years old and I am in 8th grade. I live in district 5 represented by Director Lerma. I believe in “Free Palestine" because many people are getting hurt, scared, and many places are getting bombed (hospitals), and shooted (schools). Kids at my school want to learn about Palestine since most find it interesting and want to learn more about what's happening instead of having to look it up or just hear small details about it. This issue impacts people in Palestine and people outside of Palestine since some have families, friends, and loved ones who are living that trauma. As a student in Oakland this impacts me and my teachers because we as students can’t learn about it nor can our teachers teach us since they might lose their job. Please vote Yes for permanent Ceasefire.
