Children need an education and in order for them to get that they need to be safe, alive, and have an intact education system. There is no one that this war has been harder on than children and I want them to learn other things from life than the harsh realities of surviving internment at a refugee camp. This is not our moment to freeze in guilt over having what others do not, but to speak up and advocate that all children should have what we want for our own.

We demand that President Davis adhere himself to the bylaw of the OUSD board, and AGENDIZE THE CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION that a majority of the board supports. During his first month in office, President Davis has illegally silenced the ceasefire resolution, which a majority of the board wants to agendize (OUSD Bylaw 9322). Arab, Muslim and Palestinian students do not feel safe at school because of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the silence in their schools, and the censorship around talking about Palestine. This is causing a significant drop in attendance from our Arab students. President Davis is responsible for representing OUSD students and following our democratic processes to address school district concerns. This resolution process has included countless meetings with board members and community members who are responding to the impact of this humanitarian crisis on our students. President Davis - Stop silencing community voices and agendize Resolution No. 2324-0159 for a vote.

I support an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Palestine. The slaughter of innocent people is unacceptable!

It’s not controversial for an institution that receives federal funding and cares for children to demand an end to a genocide that’s killed 13,000 children

Please pass a ceasefire resolution. It is critical that our families understand that we DO NOT support the murder of children.

As a youth living in the bay, it’s a surprise that OUSD has not followed the long and rich legacy of activism in Oakland. Failing to let address the genocide in Gaza, as well as, pass a ceasefire resolution is completely against what the people of the Bay want. We, as a people living in the belly of the beast have an obligation to do what we can until justice is won. If we can’t get it in the council, if we can’t get It in the board meetings, we will get it on the streets. FREE PALESTINE!!

Hello my name is Sofia,I am 14 years old and I am in 8th grade.I live in district 5 represented by director Lerma.I believe in a permanent ceasefire for palestine because in palestine many people are dying and their land is being destroyed.Kids at my school want to learn about palestine because it will educate us on what is happening around the world and how the government is not doing anything about it.By learning about this in school it can make us support and help palestine. As a latina-american,this influences my point of view towards the issue by seeing it as how hispanics are being deported and being hated on because of where they come from,I see this issue happening to palestinians being harassed and killed just by being from palestine.I hope you as adults parents and educators can influence young people to see this issue as our own and help help us see a permanent ceasefire and change. Please vote yes on a permanent ceasefire resolution.

Hi Jonah - Do you also condemn the teach-in, and always follow all of the policies included in the district regulation 6144 or 6000. Of course not, because you selectively choose to follow rules when you think they are to your benefit. Please, I am begging you and so many others… Stop being hypocritical. Board bylaws and administrative regulations are important. Don’t pick and choose when you follow them.
