I am a case manager at CCPA. It is critical that our students have the appropriate classroom space on the Havenscourt Campus as we continue to expand over the coming years. Accommodations to follow the approved expansion would set us up for success so that our students get the most out of their education.

I strongly support this agenda item as a resident of Oakland and father of a student at Melrose Leadership Academy. Our school building desperately needs these funds. Our building is dilapidated and lacks a proper school yard like many other schools in Oakland have. It's shocking, Let's get this done! Please include MLA as a priority on the bond project list.

I am a teacher at Skyline and support placing this bond measure on the ballot. Our students and families at Skyline and all schools should have facilities that show we love, respect and value them.

I am an OUSD parent and support the bond and urge you to include Melrose Leadership Academy (MLA) as a priority on the bond list. MLA has been identified as a school needing major facilities upgrades to support student learning. These funds are also necessary to add new facilities and space to bring all MLA students back onto one campus, as they are currently split between two campuses. MLA's learning community is strong, innovative, and vibrant, but opportunities for mentorship by older students for younger students is difficult when lower grades (TK-2) are on a separate campus. Please include MLA as a priority on the bond project list.

As a parent and volunteer at Melrose Leadership Academy, I strongly support including MLA in the proposed bond measure, specifically upgrading and improving the campus infrastructure, and adding an additional building in order to house the entire school on one campus. Currently MLA is split across two school sites, causing hassles for families with children at both sites and additional expenses for the school. The main site on Fleming Ave sorely needs a new boiler. During heat waves, classrooms on both campuses are unsafe and uncomfortable. Thank you.

As a teacher who struggles with insufficient facilities each day, this new money is vital. My classroom, which over 100 students count on as a place of learning each day, frequently reaches temperatures over 90 degrees during the hotter months.

Please prioritize Melrose Leadership Academy with funding. It is a high demand school that desperately needs repairs and additional space. Our students need to focus on learning and be educated on one campus. Our teachers need to be able to focus on teaching rather than worrying about extreme heat and other building issues and hazards. The school can grow if it continues to be desirable to new students. Housing the students on two campuses is a major setback and disappointment. We have a unique model and a very enthusiastic and dedicated parent community. Please help us continue to thrive and help MLA realize its full potential.

Please support MLA with $49.5 million in funding. Melrose is in desperate need of repairs and renovations, to make sure our children are safe and to allow all students to remain on the same campus (the benefits of intergenerational learning are boundless). This is a school that serves a large and diverse community, and is in high demand. Melrose provides a huge benefit to Oakland and OUSD and needs the additional funds to thrive.

As a parent, I urge you to keep Melrose Leadership Academy on the priority on the bond project list.

HEALTH AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: The district has identified that MLA is a school in need of major facilities upgrades. Our Facilities Condition Index is a level 4, which ranks us with the schools in Oakland that are in most need of improvement. The District has said we need major renovations just to make our campus safe to learn.

MLA SUPPORTS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES IN THE DISTRICT: MLA is a school in high-demand as a high-quality dual immersion school and keeps Oakland families in OUSD. We have a waitlist of over 400 families. We need more space to support our children who are actively learning both Spanish and English.

OUR TEACHERS AND LEADERS NEED TO FOCUS ON LEARNING: We have proven that we are a great school. According to the District's CORE Growth Data, our students are growing at one of the fastest rates of any school in Oakland. We have a high teacher retention rate.

Please support the bond measure to improve Melrose Leadership Academy! I am a parent of two students there and the school is definitely going above and beyond to serve our children but the facilities do not support a conducive learning environment and repairs take up a lot of the budget that could be used for other things. Also it would be so amazing to have the entire school community on one campus again. I have children on both campuses and it is truly a burden. Please provide bond funds to improve the facilities at Melrose Leadership Academy!

Melrose Leadership Academy is need of MAJOR facilities upgrades according as per the "Facilities Conditions Index." There are many maintenance items that the school is in dire need of, students don't have access to water or shade when playing on the yard, there are no science labs, etc. I need my children to have a safe place to learn.

Also the school is in such high demand that there is not enough room for all the students. We need a new building so that I don' have to bring my kids to two different locations. Having my children split up like this is a liability if there were a natural disaster. MLA needs to continue to attract and retain the best teachers by offering them an acceptable school to perform the great work that they do!!!!!

I am a mother, aunt and staff of CCPA and I support the bonus because it is very important that CCPA has the space to continue with the expansion and to be available to give all students the opportunity to continue educating themselves as they did when they were a small school.

Melrose Leadership Academy is in dire need of upgrades to its Maxwell campus for the seismic safety, thermally comfortable learning environments, and better spaces where teaching and learning can thrive for hundreds of children and staff. This is a much-needed investment for our students and staff. In addition to upgrading the existing facilities, creating a new building where we can consolidate all grades would help to foster the community and mentoring opportunities that we strive to create and maintain. This is less about convenience for the parents and more for our Oakland students. Thank you.

I am a school counselor at Skyline High School and I respectfully urge you to support this bond. As a counselor, my role is to support student success but I cannot do that if students do not have access to basic needs such as classrooms that are not extremely hot, restrooms that do not have adequate supplies or don't work at all and a school that is in dire need of upgrades. Skyline students are resilient and strong but they shouldn't have to be forced to learn in these conditions.
