16-0149 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Oakland Youth Course, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide 1) support the School in designing, creating, implementing and evaluating a school based choral music program; 2) provide needed additional funding to the program as our funding permits; 3) design a program budget for the school year; 4) provide music curricula that fulfills CA State VAPA standards; 5) recruit and hire qualified music teachers for the school program; 6) provide ongoing training and mentoring to music teachers to improve their teaching skills; 7) collaborate with school leadership on program management, assessment, and development; 8) provide site visits by OYC staff to help oversee the Program and support communications between the school, program, and teacher; 9) communicate with parents, students and the community at large about OYC and facilitate quality instructional and performance opportunities; and 10) evaluate programs on an ongoing basis and make recommendations for continued growth and development, including replacement of faculty when required, at Bret Harte Middle School, for the period of August 24, 2015 through June 17, 2016, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00.
