13-2918 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Fenton Communications, Inc., San Francisco, CA, for the latter to develop and implement a strategic communications plan that provides a road-map to achieve the following goals, for the Family, Schools, Community Partnerships Department: (1) create support among other administrators and staff within the District to adopt school discipline models among schools across the District; (2) develop a recommended set of tools and "how to guides" that provides interested Practitioners with instructions on how to implement the model; (3) generate awareness and visibility about the model within the education field on a statewide and national scale; (4) develop messaging and a narrative about model programs that will resonate among target audiences; (5) identify a tactical approach for how to best share information about the model with target audiences; and (6) utilize the model to help re-define school defiance and restorative justice policies, for the period of October 23, 2013 through June 30, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00.

13-2920 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Joan Hepperly, San Francisco, CA, for the latter, as stated in the specific outcomes of the Scope of Work, to develop an implementation plan to ensure all SPED staff are evaluated per the Bargaining Unit Agreements, to create systems, protocols, tools and forms to ensure that all SPED staff are evaluated utilizing quality evaluation cycles, ensure that SPED stakeholders are involved and included in the development of the final Special Education Strategic Plan, participate in workgroups and/or committees as determined by the Deputy Superintendent of Instruction, Leadership and Equity-in-Action and the Associate Superintendent of Programs for Exceptional Children, participate in the weekly Steering Committee Meetings to support the development and implementation of the SPED Strategic Plan, and collaborate with Identified staff to project manage the development of the SPED Strategic Plan, for the period of August 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $39,900.00.

13-2924 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Institute for Sustainable Economic, Environmental, Educational Design (I-SEEED), Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide services contributing youth voice to Family, Schools, Community Partnerships Departments Social and Emotional Learning ALL campaign, to 1) inform OUSD SEL vision and implementation, and 2) design and make recommendations for SEL standards, resulting in 8-10 students having a stipend internship with I-SEEED, serving as student researchers for project; assisting student research team to align student-led research, data and action recommendations and Meaningful Student Engagements' 'Making A-G real' campaign, with District's Full Service Community Schools 5-year strategic plan by identifying specific areas where students voice is most relevant, needed and appropriate to help inform the Voluntary Resolution Plan (VRP) process; train 8-10 student researchers in youth participatory action research, planning and evaluation methodology, data analysis, leadership development, and project planning, for the period of October 15, 2013 through June 30, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $35,700.00.
