13-2701 Approval by the Board of Education of a Memorandum of Understanding between the District and the Development Studies Center, Oakland, CA, with the latter passing through to the District a grant from the S. D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation, for implementation of the Caring School Community Initiative at twenty-nine elementary schools, pursuant to the terms and conditions thereof, for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, in the amount of $166,500.00.

13-2702 Approval by the Board of Education of Amendment 1, Professional Services Contract between the District and Veritam, Incorporated, Sacramento, CA, for the latter to provide an online data collection and management system for the Medical Administrative Activities (MAA) and Local Educational Agency (LEA) billing option programs as well as training and administrative support for Programs for Exceptional Children, which oversees the billing, in an additional amount not to exceed $30,000.00, increasing the Contract not to exceed amount from $100,000.00 to $130,000.00, for the period of July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. All other terms and conditions of the Contract remain in full force and effect.

13-2707 Adoption by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Kyle McClerkins, Hayward, CA, for the latter to provide direct on-site services for a peer Restorative Justice (RJ) Program by collaborating with site staff to identify and recruit 5-10 peer mediators (11-14 years old) that reflect the racial, ethnic, and academic diversity of the school; organize, create, and design training materials that teach conflict resolution, effective communications, problem solving, and restorative practices, and share same with other Peer RJ coordinators; assist peer RJ leaders to work in pairs to help peers involved in a dispute to resolve differences and repair relationships; coach the peer RJ leaders to conduct an average of 20-35 restorative circles to respond to harm or conflict and support the school site in creating a safe, healthy and supportive school environment at Edna Brewer Middle School, for the period of August 13, 2013 through June 30, 2014, at a cost not to exceed $19,035.00.
