12-2901 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Pro Arts, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide a maximum of 567.00 hours of service by providing for teaching artist, as described in the Scope of Work, incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth, and showcasing of students work; and curriculum planning with principal are teachers, if desired, at Elmhurst Community Preparatory School, for the period of August 27, 2012 through June 14, 2013 in an amount not to exceed $25,00.00.

12-2904 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Ashlee George, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide a maximum of 1,185.00 hours of service in the following ways 1) direct services to students and families in response to disciplinary incidents or conflicts to reach a resolution, 2) collaboration with faculty and staff to develop restorative practices in the classroom and capacity of staff members to use restorative communications to resolve conflicts, 3) development of student conflict mediators/restorative practice participants to support student involvement in process, 4) meeting with Leadership Team to look at data and aligning services to meet the needs of the site and, 5) work with the District Restorative Justice program through professional development and aligning implementation at site with District goals at a Alliance Academy, for the period of August 6, 2012 through June 21, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $32,000.00.

12-2906 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Luna Kids Dance, Berkeley, CA, for the latter to provide a maximum of 100.00 hours of services to provide teaching, modeling, coaching and artists/teacher partnership, tied to the arts, literacy and professional community building, for each classroom involved with the program,as described in the the Scope of Work, incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth, at Grass Valley Elementary School, for the period of September 17, 2012 to June 30, 2013, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00.

12-2922 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract (PSC) between District and Apex Learning, Inc., Seattle, WA, for the latter to provide 220 hours of its Pilot Program for student credit recovery which includes (1) access to all Class Tools Achieve courses, (2) professional services including (a) initial program set up, (b) onsite and online professional development, (c) user support, and (3) student and teacher general studies materials, as described in the Scope of Work, incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth, at Oakland High School and Coliseum Preparatory Academy, for the period October 23, 2012 through February 22, 2013, in an amount not to exceed $11,000.00.

12-2929 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Kusum Crimmel, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide 1,635 hours of service to increase the number of students receiving supports in connection with the S3 School Climate Grant in an effort to reduce suspension, substance abuse, bullying and other forms of harassment and violence, and foster student leadership; develop, within the framework of Response to the Intervention (RTI), a school-wide Restorative Justice program in conjunction with Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) for students, staff, and families to reduce the disproportionally in suspensions and unwarranted referrals to special education; train peer mediators to provide mediation in response to minor offenses and to resolve peer conflicts and repair harms caused, and implement restorative justice practices including community building circles; facilitate associated family and community conferences as an alternative to suspension, and circles to support the re-entry of students returning from expulsion and incarceration; maintain documentation of students served and assist in the evaluation of outcomes related to interventions provided, at Oakland Technical High School, for the period September 17, 2012 through June 30, 2013, in an amount not to exceed $75,400.00.

12-2946 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Serve-N-Learn, Castro Valley, CA, for the latter to provide 19 hours, providing peer education leadership, by recruiting 10 to 15 peer educators, representative of the schools ethnicities and identified as being natural leaders; train students on assessing tobacco and marijuana use on campus and among the student body; train students on the science of inquiry and developing measures to address the schools prevention needs; train students on leadership; collaborative environment youth adult partnership; presentation skills, educate students on developing media and activities to educate their peers and classrooms and assemblies; facilitate 10 to 15 anti-tobacco, marijuana presentations and do schoolwide prevention education campaigns to reach all students at the school site; train students to administer classroom presentation evaluations, train students on evaluating their own work and provide positive feedback to their working groups; and train students to help their peers at risk to assess student services at their site and their community, at Roots International, Alliance Academy and Elmhurst Community Preparatory School, and West Oakland Middle School, for the period of September 4, 2012 through October 10, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $570.00.
