As a mother with an OUSD public school student, I am in strong support of this critical initiative the Reparations for Black Students Fund, which prioritizes Black students and families impacted by decades of institutional racism and discrimination. Our children deserve to be a priority to the OUSD Board, Superintendent, Administrators, Principals, Educators, Community Now! We are calling on you to pass the Reparations for Black Students Resolution and commit to creating a plan and fundraising for the resources Black Students are owed.

I am a Kindergarten teacher at Global Family Elementary in District 5. The district needs to support our Black students always, and now more than ever. I want my students to feel loved, cared for, and free. How can OUSD claim to "serve the whole child" if they don't support the Reparations for Black Students resolution? As a teacher, I fully the support the resolution and ask the Board to agendize for the 2/10 and 2/24 meetings.

Make Oakland proud by adopting reparations for Black students. In the Black Panthers 10 pt program they outlined that "We Want Education For Our People That Exposes The True Nature Of This Decadent American Society. We Want Education That Teaches Us Our True History And Our Role In The Present-Day Society." The Black students of Oakland deserve this and so much more. Act in the legacy of the Black Panthers. Support this resolution. Do the right thing.

I support the Reparations for Black Students Resolution. Now is the time. Join educators, students, families, and community members in support of this resolution.

We are calling on the Board to take bold action and listen to the call from Black Oakland for what is owed to Black Students. We owe Black Students a plan of action that names the inequities within the system and responds with the appropriate resources to repair harm and lift up their brilliance. Our Black Students deserve more than a school district that shuts down their schools and teaches the skills to survive. Here, we have the opportunity to provide an education and community to allow our Black Students to thrive.

Will you unanimously voted to approve this resolution?

As a Black OUSD student, we deserve investment. Our needs should not be secondary. Our systems should uplift and encourage Black students, not demean and belittle them. We've consistently been failed. We deserve environments that inspire academic and personal growth. This is not inessential, this obligatory.

Vote yes! We cannot lose another Black school nor Black teacher. Put in place the supports that students, families, and staff needs! Make it matter that you passed the George Floyd Resolution. And immediately halt the layoffs of SSOs, who we NEED at our schools to be culture keepers that provide the support that keeps students out of the school to prison pipeline.
