20-2018 Submission Public Hearing by the Board of Education of Lighthouse Community Charter Public Schools - Lighthouse Community Charter School - Petition and Proposed Charter - Grades K-8 - July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2026 (5 Year Renewal).
Lighthouse is doing its job. Although charter schools have their issues of accountability, OUSD is holding Lighthouse accountable and Lighthouse has been serving students in Oakland grade-level instruction for many years. So many families rely on Lighthouse. It would be a devastating loss to a community that has endured too many of those.
I have gone to lighthouse since kindergarten. I am now in highschool I attend this school because it's a great school and I would not like to see see it close down. Please keep lighthouse open.
Please don't close lighthouse I have been here since kindergarten and I have never gotten anything but support i have grown with mentally and physically with my peers and teachers and I would love to stay there until I graduate high school.
I am a family member that is connected with lighthouse. I am a sophomore and have been at lighthouse for almost 11 years. I have a little brother who is in k-8 and I don't want him to lose his education or a connection with his friends.
When I first came to Lighthouse in 7th grade I was unfamiliar with the type of work we were doing there and I felt like an outcast. Now that I am in the 12th grade getting ready to graduate, my time here at this school has made me realize how much my future matters at this moment in time. There is no way this school should be closed down when it guides students so far towards their futures.

I support the renewal of charter k-8. My expierience at lighthouse has been good when I was k-8. I got to do a lot of activities.
