I support that Lighthouse and Lodestar should get their permit renewed. I am personally a 11th grader at Lighthouse. I have been a student at Lighthouse since kindergarten. Lighthouse offers so much help to the students. If some students are behind academically, the teachers and some of the staff offer the students a lot of help and support. Lighthouse has served many generations, and I hope they can continue to help many more generations.

Please renew this school for another 5 years! Lighthouse is the only school I've ever taught at that is truly dedicated to protecting and serving the WHOLE child. Our students are clock builders and not time tellers! Our dedication to teaching and supporting our students is unmatched! I am so proud of the way our school responded to the pandemic. Our community of schools worked tirelessly to ensure that student learning would continue and that our families' needs were met. As we continue to press forward, we will continue to hold high expectations for our students and make a difference in the Oakland community through rigorous learning environments and community building.
I have worked at lighthouse for 4 years and my son has been a student here for 3 years. I love the community and how everyone is so family oriented and cares for every child equally. My son has loved every teacher he has had at lighthouse and has never expressed that he wasnt happy in this community.
I am delighted to support the renewal of Lighthouse Community Public School K-8 as the chair of the LCPS Board of Directors, as a lifelong Oaklander with 22 years of experience as a public education leader and the CEO of Families to Action for Quality Education. While Oakland has too many schools, we do not enough quality schools that create exceptional community and strong academic and post-secondary outcomes for students. Watching the team respond to and wrap around Oakland's high need students and families during the pandemic was inspiring. Chromebooks were distributed prompted, funds raised for cash assistance and a variety of supports were put in place to meet both families and students where they were while continuing to adapt to distance learning and ensure that academic learning continued to be a priority. This fall, the team has continued to demonstrate their will to achieve excellence, to interrupt systemic racism and to honor the brilliant families and students they serve
Lighthouse Community Public Schools, both Lighthouse and Lodestar, are beacons of an education that disrupts oppression by teaching to the whole student, head, hart and hands. LCPC has cross grade, multi-year body of evidence of student achievement evidence across the domains of character, knowledge/skills and higher quality student work products— they demonstrate complexity, craftsmanship and authenticity. As a leader who has Steve schools across the country, I cannot emphasize how Much LCPS is contributing to the Oakland/Bay Area and National deeper learning communities. LCPS challenges, empowers, and engages our young people to become more then they ever thought possible. I strongly encourage you to renew charters at hand for LCPS.
My name is Victor, my son Emmanuel attends this Lighthouse Charter School,. He's in fifth grade, we have been studying from home online, it has been difficult for each and every one of us "teachers students and parents" is in these times where I understand and appreciate the fact of having a facility like Lighthouse for our students. Please consider keeping this school active for many years to come, as great people have graduated from it and we want this to continue to happen in benefit of the community in general....THANK YOU!!!.
Ive Been a part of Lighthouse since it started as a student. The incredible work that Steve, Jenna and Laura have put in has made a impact on different generations. It has shown as myself (and other alumni) have come back to Lighthouse to give back all the knowledge and love that was shown to us. That itself shows the impact Lighthouse has made in Oakland, and it will only keep growing.
Lighthouse has a proven history of not only partnering with our East Oakland students on their path to college, but also a proven history of graduating our students from college at higher rates than other students from similar demographics. Oakland students deserve to live up to their fullest potential, and Lighthouse is a great community partner in that work.

As a member of Lighthouse Community Charter School I can completely vouch for the reputation that it upholds. Lighthouse has truly been a light within the East Oakland Community for 15 + years and it continues to go on. As a team member who has been apart of the community for 5 years LH not only states it’s main purpose in making students future successful but they have been there to pave the way. The percentage of students graduating to move on to a career or college of their choice has been evident and those same students are making a difference in their communities.
Lighthouse is such an important component of the east Oakland community. They are helping student and families in so many positive ways. They are making a difference that cannot be denied by the Board. Lighthouse does not deserve to be closed.
Please allow Lighthouse to continue serving East Oakland students. I have had the pleasure to work alongside amazing educators and amazing leaders such as Ms.Hernandez and Ms.Vasquez who deeply care about our students. Lighthouse is more than a school, it is a community who truly wants to see East Oakland children thrive.
