Stop closing schools and selling off/giving away our school property. School board, focus your attention on lifting up our public schools, paying our teachers a living wage, and giving our students the support they need.

I am supporting this 100%! I love Aspire BMA and my daughter has benefited so much from being a scholar there. She receives amazing learning opportunities and the teachers and staff are the best. They are always so supportive, kind, attentive, accommodating and professional. They all deserve this opportunity to thrive as a learning institution.

Over the course of 5 years I have worked in several different schools in several different cities. When I joined Aspire, I immediately noticed a difference in the academic expectations for scholars, a positive difference. I have observed several teachers giving lecture, and student work, and I was very impressed that the scholars from early on (Kindergarten) have lectures, work sheets, and projects that set them up for academic success. I have spent a lot of time with kindergarten, but I have also spent time in other grade levels and the teachers are quality educators that are extremely dedicated. The leaders at BMA, the principal and the other admin. staff are seasoned professionals and are quick to respond to requests of the community, staff, scholars, and families. They aren't only professionals, they are some of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting, and truly go above and beyond serving their community in multiple ways. Completely support BMA.

BMA has been a big support and stepping stone for my child attend their for the past 3years. I've seen a big improvement in my son development. Each teacher and staff faculty support their student and have the best patient to learn and work with for each child development processed. I am proud to be an parent of the BMA Family. They treat each student like their own and I love it. I cant wait til my new born to be old enough to attend school because BMA will be my top number 1 choose. Thank you guys and lady's for the support in teaching our kids the best of the best. Really Thank you!!!!! 💖💖👍🏽

OUSD Board - Please don't give away free leases to charter schools, when money is so badly needed to help students, teachers, and facilities within OUSD.

What are you thinking, ousd board members? You have closed schools, shuttered libraries, ended restorative justice, and in so many ways put a chokehold on Oakland public schools. All because of budget shortfalls - yet now you are giving away over 40 million dollars in general funds over the next forty years. Ousd gains nothing from this. Instead of shepherding ousd towards success, which is your supposed mission, you are putting it into a free-fall towards failure.

Good Grief, not this situation again…Oppose! Why is there even a question about essentially giving away properties to charter schools when OUSD is struggling to take care of existing traditional public school students, teachers, and support staff? Aspire Berkley Maynard Academy has an equity score of 2 out of 5 because they serve fewer special education students, low income students and English learners than OUSD. This is not a time to allow more charter schools to siphon off money. Does the Board of Education truly care about OUSD students or not??
