15-2230 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Samuel Weinberg, Oakland, CA, for the latter to serve as a trained Alameda County Integrated Learning Specialist to work with classroom teachers to deepen the understanding of arts integration methodologies; be available for ongoing consultations with the teachers, insuring that the program reflects District priorities in coordination with the teachers, the larger school community as well as inter-district information sharing; assist the teachers in program planning and curriculum development and serve as a conduit to support services that strengthen the entire school community at Edna Brewer Middle School, for the period of November 2, 2015 through June 30, 2016, in an amount not to exceed $13,000.00.

Improved deep, widespread knowledge of subject-area content (Fractions / Argumentative Writing); 2. Consistent implementation of best-practice instruction (CCSS has provided a foundation for the what of instruction - PD will focus on the how); and 3. Further development of collegial networks across elementary, middle and high school teachers at Madison Park Academy, for the period of October 8, 2015 through June 30, 2016, in an amount not to exceed $35,000.00.

15-1984 Approval by the Board of Education of a Memorandum of Understanding between the District and Oakland Natives Give Back, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide the coordination of the attendance incentive campaign components and the funds awarded as prizes for the following programs and/or services: District-wide Challenge for 20 students awarded with perfect attendance; Participating School Challenge for 5 students from 5 participating schools with the highest attendance; Classroom Challenge for classrooms of 5 participating schools competing with the highest attendance for an incentive award; the End-of-the-Year Celebration, District-wide, for schools to compete, and the BIG Challenge, District-wide for school administrators invited to participate and prepare an innovative and comprehensive year-long strategy to increase attendance at their sites, and other school incentive awards related to these events under the supervision of the Attendance and Discipline Support Services Unit, Community Schools and Student Services Department, for the period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016, at no cost to the District.

15-2258 Approval by Board of Education of Amendments of Board Policy Students BP 5141.4 - Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting to comply with Assembly Bill 1432 which requires annual mandated reporter training for all school district employees within the first six weeks of each school year or within six weeks of employment, and to further provide that 1) annually, at the first regular meeting in January of each year, the Superintendent shall report to the Board the status of the District compliance with AB 1432; and 2) any employee who has been employed by the District for more than 60 days who has not completed mandated reporter training within the first 60 days of employment or annually after January 1st of any year and who is employed at a school site or has contact with students may be placed on administrative leave without pay pending completion of the training offered by the District.
