I support the renewal of AIMS College Prep High School. As an administrator there I saw so many students flourishing and thriving in that setting. The teachers are terrific and the high expectations that are part of the school culture support all students to excel.
AIMS has been excellently serving Oakland students. Oakland children and families deserve expanded high quality opportunities like AIMS. I urge you to support the renewal of their charter.
As an educator I enjoy teaching at AIMS High School. The school values and support the teachers, For me this is a place that there is academic freedom.
AIMS is a school that puts the children first. I have worked here for over 9 years and I call this place my home. AIMS has provided our families for many years with a very high-level academic program that is second to none. We have created a tried-and-true formula to help the students at our school succeed in all aspects of life. We have seen tremendous growth year after year. We have helped hundreds upon hundreds of students reach their college dream. With renewal, we look forward to seeing thousands more graduate and attend a college/university. Many of our students attend from Kindergarten through 12th grade and, after graduating from a four year university, become upstanding citizens in the world that we all navigate.
I love how AIMS brings strong supports to the students and their families. All of the administrators, faculty, and staff are diligent to help the students become successful academically, socially, and emotionally.
AIMS College Prep High School is one of the rare and special institutions in America that does all it can to bridge the education and achievement gap, and whose actions speak louder than its words.
AIMS is a great school! I am the Parent Coordinator at AIMS and also I am the mother of five children that attend AIMS.
We are an African-American and Latino family. At AIMS our children thrive and they have an opportunity to go to school in a diverse setting with diverse staff. They are presented with excellent opportunities and a fantastic education. They receive so many benefits by going to AIMS. My great-grandparents could not read or write and my grandmother had a fourth-grade education due the lack of schools in their village where they were raised. At AIMS my children have the opportunities that my grandparents dreamed of! I know so many families at AIMS that share a similar sentiment! We love AIMS for our children. AIMS has a proven track record. We chose AIMS HS for my daughter due to its excellence in education, diversity, and safety.
Making sure all students are equipped with necessary requirements to access higher education is a fundamental aspect of AIMS high school. The school is noted for 100% of its seniors being A-G qualified, providing all students the opportunity to enter any college or university. Actually, that cannot be said of many high schools in our area. Yet, Oakland serves as leader in educational opportunity because of AIMS high school. The high school has been celebrated on the state and national levels because of its college readiness program and in-depth academic preparation of its students. AIMS high school is welcoming, supportive, rigorous, and competitive. As a former principal and board member of AIMS, I can speak from experience that all students are afforded a comprehensive education that equips them access college or career pathways.
I wholeheartedly support to renew AIMS high charter for another 5 years. My daughter is a freshman and has been with AIMS since 3rd grade. I chose to have her continue at AIMS high primarily because of the vigorous curriculum and strong support system. The staff work tirelessly,pushing the students and provide them with the tools to support their growth and ensure their success.I am particularly impressed by the leadership of Mr. Williams. I appreciate his tough love approach, commitment to excellence, strong leadership skills- working tirelessly on improving the school/curriculum and always being on top of things. I am grateful for the structure they put in place during this pandemic, providing individuals with laptops,textbooks and maintaining normal school hours through Zoom.
AIMS allow students to achieve despite socioeconomic status.Oakland needs a school that has a proven track record, breaks down the barriers of education inequality and provides a safe environment for students.
As President of the AIMS Board of Directors, I whole heartedly support the reauthorization of AIMS High School. I am proud of the board's relationship with the superintendent as together we have built an infrastructure that ensures the high school continues to operate within its annual budge and more recently has met its enrollment goals. Moreover, I am excited at the achievement of African American and Latino students, as 100 percent of the graduates attend a university/college and/or community college. In addition, AIMS high school is ranked nationally as one of the top performing high schools. I am especially proud that the 2020 valedictorian is an African American female who is attending UC Berkeley and is the recipient of several scholarships. Therefore, in accordance with AB1505, I strongly urge you to approve the AIMS High School for the 5 year charter renewal.

I am in full support of AIMS Charter School because AIMS provides the educational structure and the overall positive support that my granddaughter and all students need, especially during these challenging times. The classes that AIMS offers their students is purposefully arranged to enhance their academic skills and to prepare them for college and a bright future. AIMS high school has a wonderful, hard-working principle and staff that are experienced in dealing with challenging behaviors and are well able to assist their students in beating the odds, facing their challenges and overcoming the obstacles that block their path to success. AIMSstrong teaches their students to be mentally and emotionally strong. You're doing a great job AIMS. Keep up the good work!

The faculty and staff at AIMS have been patient and understanding with my son during a difficult time in his life. Other schools and teachers may have let him fall through the cracks, but at AIMS I truly feel that my son is cared about and cared for.
AB 1505, while rightfully strengthening oversight of charters, also makes it clearer about which successful ones should be renewed. AIMS's two schools deserve a 7-year and 5-year renewal respectively. They have improved consistently over the last two decades - next year will be their 25th in Oakland! - and are now consistently and responsibly closing the achievement gap for low-income African American students and providing excellent public education to the diverse Oakland community they have served since their founding.
