11-2837 Revision of OAL Policy Committee previously approved ruling of the OAL addendum to CIF205 B. (1) c - Maintaining the progress toward meeting high school graduation requirements as prescribed by the governing board (Oakland Unified School District Board of Education)
Current Policy:
CIF205 B. (1)c, "The student is maintaining minimum progress toward meeting high school graduation requirements as prescribed by the Governing Board:" In the Oakland Athletic League, minimum progress toward meeting high school graduation requirements are defined as:
(i) At the beginning of the school year, the student has earned credits at the following grade level progression: 10th Grade (2 semesters) = 50 credits; 11th grade (4 semesters) = 110 credits; and 12th grade (6 semesters) = 170 credits.
(ii) The student must maintain a minimum 2.0 Total Grade Point Average at each grade level progression.
(iii) No appeal, waiver, marking period or second semester consideration is allowed.

Minimum Standard to Participate in athletics within the OAL (Progress Towards Graduation)
Entering 9th grade - 2.0 GPA (last grading period)
Beginning of the 10th grade: 50 earned credits and 2.0 GPA (last grading period)
Beginning of the 11th grade: 110 earned credits and 2.0 GPA (last grading period)
Beginning of the 12th grade: 170 earned credits and 2.0 GPA (last grading period)
Students with credits below these thresholds are academically ineligible.
