This comment applies to item D-12 seeking to authorize negotiation for a potential lease on the property at 4917 Mountain Boulevard. The last public information provided on this property was that it is not owned by OUSD, but was provided to OUSD in a long term lease in exchange for OUSD's relinquishing its interest in property related to the new Chabot Observatory. At the time, Community Day was housed at the site. I am concerned that, given OUSD's growing surplus of empty properties, that whatever arrangements are made for this parcel do not require OUSD to invest in it. When it comes time to replace the IT department's servers, I hope they will be moved to a parcel that OUSD owns outright, and that consideration be given to relinquishing 4917 Mountain Boulevard if that is in the best fiscal interest of the district.
