I support the School Stability and Belonging resolution. This resolution was written, I believe, to acknowledge the harm caused to OUSD Disabled Students who had their programs moved multiple times, effectively preventing them from becoming full members of a school community. I note that these are a relatively small number of Students with Disabilities, who need the most specialized education but who have borne a disproportionate impact. Not knowing whether in future years, school consolidations may be proposed for OUSD overall, I suggest that a paragraph be added to provide that when a school site is proposed for closure or merger, provision must be made for students in any onsite Special Ed program to move with the entire school community.
