25-3010 Discussion and possible adoption by the LCAP - Parent Advisory Committee of the Final Section of PSAC's Statement to the School Board about the Budget Scenarios to Address OUSD's Structural Deficit.
Thank you for all the effort you have put into writing this statement. As a parent of a 1st grader at Peralta and former public school teacher, I support the statement. I want to especially emphasize #6 and #9. My hope is that through this budget and restructuring process we can create systems that would support and retain more internal highers, like school physiologist. On-sight, local staff members are better able to support our students and school communities as a whole v. contractors who often live in other states.
I also want to express my support for #12 and any additional language that would center and shield schools with the highest needs from site-based budget cuts.
At the last meeting, someone asked (of the Board/District) for a criteria of what a good school should have, so we can have a clear foundation of what is needed at a budget level to support ALL schools and their students, recognizing that each school made need additional supports beyond the base level.
