I’m an OUSD Parent and am begging this board to demonstrate the bold leadership our children desperately need to end the ongoing instability that harms every school community.

Restructuring and rightsizing will not solve all issues, but there is no path forward without merging/closing schools: OUSD is operating almost twice as many schools as our budget can reasonably support.

Closing and merging schools is also not just about the financial savings, fully enrolled schools allow for robust supports and programs that under-enrolled schools cannot afford and sustain.
Restructuring can be transformative if it’s done thoughtfully. The Board must
1.Acknowledge that we must right-size our number of school sites
    2.Develop an inclusive redesign process
3.Establish a clear timeline for district redesign to engage families and educators early so transitions are fair, equitable, and well-planned.

Please do not allow another generation of Oakland students to be harmed by continued inaction.
