I know we want to keep the cuts away from the schools. Unfortunately, some school site positions will have to be cut. Anyone hired with one time COVID relief funds need to be let go because there's no long term funding for their position. Anytime someone is hired with one time funds, there must be a limit for how long they're hired for so they don't stay past the contract amount. I'm not sure what other school site positions are impacted but there may need to be more cuts to increase teachers and classified staff's salaries.

I read that daily attendance have improved and I hope it stays that way to increase revenue. Also, we really need to encourage schools to do more fundraising, if possible. OUSD has gotten support from philanthropic organizations and they should continue to seek contributions. It's time to get creative on how to sustain the district when funding is tight.
