On a simply fiscal basis: do yourealize that this works out to an hourly rate of over $214/hr for 8 hours of weekly classes over a 40 week school year, significantly higher than the prevailing wage or contract rate for locally advertised dance teacher positions? Have these classes been offered to the credentialed dance teachers of OUSD, some of whom also specialize in African Diaspora and world culture dance styles? Is there a job description for Artist in Residence so that employees could be hired to lead this program? I also note that, like many of the other contracts that require professionals to come on campus, the box for "District Facilities/Workspace" is checked "NO." How is this happening when the whole point of this program and others is to bring enrichment to students on campus? At the Outsourcing Task Force in the spring, we heard about how district employees work to support afterschool programs led by outside professionals. Contracts need to accurately reflect that.
