Good evening Committee Members. My name is Staci Ross-Morrison, Principal of Dewey Academy. I am writing to encourage you to prioritize the demolishing of 1025 2nd Avenue. I ask that you prioritize the safety of Dewey, La Escuelita, MetWest and the United Nations CDC students, staff and families who encounter the inhabitants on a daily basis. Earlier this school year, a man attempted to drag one of my female students inside of 1025. Bunch is contributing to the blight in our city as well, but students and staff are not immediately affected because there are no schools adjacent to the site. The inhabitants of 1025 run a series of mangled extension cords from 1025 from Dewey’s heating and cooling units. Continuing to ignore the buildings while emphasizing how unsafe it is for OUSD employees to enter continues to put Dewey in physical harm. I am truly concerned that my campus will go up in flames when 1025 does, if nothing is done. Thank you for your time.

Re 1025 2nd Avenue, This building has been vacant and in disrepair for 12 years. Regardless of the plan for this property moving forward, the liability risk to the district, not to mention the dangers to students, the nearby community and the people occupying it necessitate its immediate demolition. The current Bond lists this building as specific project and $15 million was included to begin to address it. Please move forward with addressing this danger. Let's not have another Ghost Ship, this time on the hands of the District
