We must pass a balanced budget that addresses the deficit and supports OUSD's exit from receivership. Cuts must be done thoughtfully and with community input - but they must be done. I am concerned that we will lose momentum and leadership if we are not able to exit receivership. I want to thank Lisa Dawson CBO for her work to give us back our school district.

Am I correct in reading that there are NO school closures or consolidations in the plan, at least for now? If so, does that contradict your explanation of the key drivers of our budget issues, and differences between OUSD and other school districts? (Slide 31). What does the board envision for the long term plan post 2025-26?

We have to reduce this significant structural budget deficit and keep the district solvent and finally exit receivership next year after 23 years and then allow the 3R process to stabilize the district for the future. Thanks to the CBO and team for working on this big problem. Please send this matter to the full board for action. Thank you B&F committee.
