L.-76 24-2403 Adoption by the Board of Education, upon recommendation by the Measures N and H Commission, of 2023-2024 of the Measure N and H Financial Overview and Allocations, including the Contingency Fund Balance records for Measure N and for Measure H.
I very much appreciate the CAC's advocacy on behalf of our Young Adult Program students. We are continuing to work with the Office of Linked Learning and the Superintendent of the High School network to receive consideration for full implementation funding for this year- as opposed to the planning grant funding we received- and retroactive funding for previous years. YAP had never been included, or encouraged to apply, in measure H/N programming until the end of the 23/24 school year after a District site code was assigned at the end of the 22/23 school year. If we had been given the opportunity to apply for planning grant funding for the 23/24 school year, or before, we would have done so.
I am writing in regards to the measure n and H funding. I oppose full funding to charters and programs that don't support our most vulnerable students. Having an autistic 14 year old who's been learning online for almost 5 years, because there's no safe place, we're counting on the district. Already enduring physical and emotional trauma, with ongoing learning loss, too many students have already suffered trauma due to school closures, and have never recovered. The young Adult program is their final hope in trying to become as productive as possible. i am concerned that charter schools that don't support our most vulnerable students, continue to get funding ahead of the Adult school, in particular, specifically American Indian charter. this was the same school that came in and kicked out my son and his entire school family, and he's suffered because of that. PLEASE stop Putting Charters ahead of our most vulnerable students, and give them ALL the support that they deserve.
