There is a saying: "Nothing was ever improved by destroying it". All schools need to improve if OUSD intends to serve the students in our district. AIMS no less than any other school
We've got the ball rolling in so many ways. Why stop the momentum? How can any school improve if you close it?
I hope you will renew AIMS' charter because we've got a great thing going on. Can we do better? You bet. And we are not afraid of trying to do a better job.
That is proved by the many years of renewals we have already received. In addition, all schools in OUSD are committed to raising up students who live in poverty. We've done a great job of that. For myself, I am allowed to innovate approaches to post-COVID Math pedagogy. I am happy to share that with anyone. I invite all schools to come and look at what AIMS does. Some things are improved by renewing them. Thanks for your time.

I am a proud employee at AIMS and have worked in administration for AIMS for over 12 years. AIMS has consistently exceeded the expectations outlined within our charter. Through its unique approach, we have fostered a learning environment where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. As an employee I have continued to witness and experience positive workplace culture, career advancement, fairness and equity across the organization.
As an Oakland native and I passionately advocate for the renewal of AIMS, a school that continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing exceptional education for the diverse community that we serve and a supportive environment that is needed for our students and families.

    Good afternoon ousd board members,

As a parent of a 7th grader it's important for my son to be in an environment he can thrive in. AIMS has shown me in the short period of time that my son has been enrolled that they not only celebrates diversity but pushes students toward excellence. Having strong male leadership in the classroom and staff is vital for young men to see not only what is possible but what they can achieve in the communities they live in.

I see no reason for this school to be closed down because they have a well rounded education system that supports its students. The people in this school well behaved compared to other schools and its a safer learning environment overall. It properly prepares its students for highschool and college as well.

My daughter is a 9th grader at AIMS. She is getting college credits and learning how to study, write, present, and communicate with others. The high standards and support is unmatched. It is so important for my daughter to be ready for college and stay motivated for her future. AIMS provides this. I don’t know if any other school that has a 100% college acceptance rate. They provide Saturday school if kids are failing to help them pass their classes. The leadership of the staff is also so wonderful. My daughter feels cared for which makes school a safe place for her. She is biracial (white mom, black dad) which can be an additional challenge at some schools. But thankfully the diversity at AIMS makes Maya feel more comfortable than other schools. Her best friend is multi-race/culture, having a German and Chinese born parents. There are many African and Muslim families which adds to the diversity. I can’t think of a better place for my daughter to be educated, truly.

This is the 1st year my kid attends AIMS. So far, he is doing excellent in getting back on track of studying. During the last 6 years of public school including pre TK & TK, he didn’t bring home straight A. He got all C & some B. His last year was going downhill when the teacher said he was only 3rd grade level even though he was in 4th grade. He had 1 sheet of homework/week. Everyday after got home from school, he watched TV, YouTube & games. I decided to move him to charter school & he was lucky to get accepted by lottery. I really appreciate AIMS & his current teacher in helping him get back to his study before middle school. We plan to let him continue staying with AIMS but we heard the news about the renewal. I hope they get to renew again since this is a great school. They focus on children’s education & great nutrition before anything else. We would feel sad if they have to be closed. Please approve their renewal so the children can have access to an excellent school.

Hello, and greetings to the members of the school board's and trustees. My name is veronica forbes.I have a ninth grader, and this is her first year at Aims high school. We transitioned from a private school from kindergarten to the eighth grade, thinking that the transition was going to be very difficult. I was very nervous. I will say that the children and the faculty at Ames high school has put me at ease. My daughter is doing great. They listen to Her concerns. They are so in tune with the mental and emotional wealth and health of my daughter that she is thriving. I will say that we are still adjusting but I know with the help of the faculty and the students at Ames. My daughter will succeed. I want this for my daughter and all other children that pass through the Aims. Education system. So to end this, I am in favor of Aims, being renewed

Good Evening School Board Trustees and Members,

My name is Ucal Kenard, and I am a parent of a 1st grader at AIMS Charter School. I’m here today to express my strong support for the renewal of our school’s charter.

AIPCS II has consistently surpassed both state and district performance metrics, achieving results that exceed California standards, OUSD standards, and even the scores of other recently renewed charter schools. This success is not coincidental but the result of dedicated, high-quality instruction and specialized support. Our specialized education and English Language Development (ELD) departments offer a comprehensive, tiered approach that meets the diverse needs of all our students.

Thanks to the support of my daughter’s school, she is reading at 2nd grade level and bringing home A’s and B’s.

I am proud of the education my child receives at AIMS, and I urge you to renew our charter so that we may continue this essential work. Thank you for your time and consideration.

As a proud Latina mother of two students in 1st and 5th grades at AIPCS II, and two students in the High School (9th and 12th grades), I am fully committed to supporting the renewal of the school's charter. AIPCS II has consistently provided an exceptional education for my children, which is why I chose this school over all others in the area. My children have greatly benefited from the dedication, care, and support of the teachers and staff, and I firmly believe that renewing the charter will ensure continued educational success for my children and all current students. Closing the school will not only impact my children, but also their friends and the broader school community. Please help continue this legacy by renewing the charter for future students. Let’s not diminish the dreams of our future doctors, lawyers, presidents, and engineers. I wholeheartedly support the renewal of AIPCS II’s charter and the bright future it offers.
