It is hard for me to understand how anyone thinks this is a good idea. We're talking about the failure of leadership to disclose that our children/staff are at risk due to drinking the water. We're talking about closing schools to balance the budget. We have employees who can't afford to live in Oakland. We have cut school site budgets. And we are talking about extending the superintendents contract at a cost to our children of $600,000+ per year. We will never end this top heavy spending on too many execs making too much money if we don't stop approving these enormous contracts.

Absolutely not. Nearly $400K/yr to preside over school closures, SpEd program closures, a public health crisis in the form of contaminated water. $400K/yr to display callous disregard and moral cowardice toward the Arab and Muslim communities of OUSD during a genocide. $400K a year to approve salaries for para-professionals and custodians that pay less than they would make at In 'n' Out. $400K/yr to consistently say the buck stops...I don't know, somewhere over there, but certainly not with me? $400K/yr to say restorative justice and accountability for thee, but never for me? I don't know whose priorities these are, but they aren't mine and they aren't those of any of the OUSD staff, students, or community members I'm fortunate enough to know.
