In April 2024 our drinking and faucet fixtures at Frick United Academy of Language tested positive for lead levels above 5 ppb. We were not informed until this week. Students and staff were inside this building until the school year ended and throughout summer school using these water faucets. This delay on the part of OUSD is neglect & carelessness and will have impacts on the health of our children and adults that lasts longer than the years it takes to get through k-12. The Frick community needs immediate reparations for endangering our school community. We need: 1. An expedited timeline on fixing the pipes so students can feel safe drinking water and attending to their needs. 2. More regular testing of water sources and a transparent long-term calendar for testing. 3. Immediate communication of test results moving forward. 4. Testing of all water sources, not just a small sample of sources. 5. A Town Hall at Frick hosted by OUSD with transparent communication about next steps
I would like to personally, and professionally, thank the members of the Board of Education for you consideration of Resolution #24-1968, Intent to Consider Joint Occupancy Proposals- Former OUSD Administration Building at 1025 Second Ave. We believe deeply that the inclusive vision for this project will impact ALL OUSD students and that included individuals with disabilities and learning differences. This project will be deeply meaningful and will affect the post-secondary outcomes of our most impacted youth. To speak specifically, the CTE TAY HUB has included our Young Adult Program students in planning, access, and participation and are focused on helping ALL of your young people find their way to a meaningful, included, and active life.
My name is Brandon Landry and I am a member of the CTE TAY Hub and Coalition for 1025 2nd Ave. I am writing to voice my support for the resolution of the intent to consider Joint Occupancy Development Proposals for 1025 Second Avenue (Resolution #24-1968).
