Strongly support a resolution calling on the federal government to call for a ceasefire in Palestine/Israel. Kids in Oakland feel unsafe when the adults who are supposed to protect them look away as innocent children are murdered day in and day out while the US government funds the genocide. Our schools must teach that we show up for each other. We take care of each other. We protect each other. I am very concerned about the safety of OUSD students impacted by this conflict. Please protect the Arab and Muslim students who are feeling unsafe, unseen, unheard. And Jewish students who are facing antisemitism because of the equating of zionism with being Jewish. Thank you

I am a former OUSD educator, a current East Oakland resident and urge Oakland School Board to pass a ceasefire resolution. There is no place or reason for the bombing of schools or the murdering of innocent people, specifically children in 2023. Not in Oakland, and not anywhere in the world. Ceasefire now. Stop the bombing now.

Protect our students! Oakland has historically been on the right side of history and you must follow the path of the Oakland City Council and call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire. The genocide of the Palestinian people impacts ALL OF US, especially our vulnerable children and students. Oakland has no room for anti-arab, islamophobic, or antisemitism. Please take a stand!

What takes place in Gaza directly impacts our children as their lives are being threatened and hunted by Zionist/xenophobic aggressors. Who’s job is it to protect them? Ours. Yours. Your mics represent the voices of the people. And there is NO accurate representation. There’s been delaying. Deflecting. Backpedaling. What’s confusing and complicated about voting to stop the massacre and genocide of innocent lives, and affirming the protection of our youth?! You have nothing to lose. Or do you, and is someone/something funding your support for ethnicide? Ceasefire. Period.

As an educator, I urge Oakland School Board to pass a ceasefire resolution. We need to be clear in our stance: STOP BOMBING SCHOOLS. STOP BOMBING KIDS. None of our students are safe during a genocide. Furthermore speak out against genocidal Israel. Silence is complicity. And dangerous.

I am an Oakland resident, educator and a parent of a child in the OUSD writing to demand that the board schedule a special meeting next week to discuss and vote on the Permanent Ceasefire Resolution no. 2234-0159. I urge you to take a stance against the dehumanizing and inflammatory rhetoric advocating for further violence in Gaza, This rhetoric has led to a surge in hate crimes against Arab and Muslim Americans in Oakland and across the nation. I ask you to stand on the right side of history by supporting this critical resolution including ending the siege and occupation, the immediate and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, the restoration of electricity and infrastructure, the respect for human rights and international law, grant all Palestinians their full rights and freedom including the right of refugees to return home. dollars should fund what our communities here really need—healthcare, housing, education, community-led safety resources, and environmental protection.

I'm for Passing a permanent ceasefire resolution in Gaza at a special meeting next week. To the board and Dr. Johnson-Trammell - what you don't do often says just as much about your leadership as what you do, there have been 221 schools damaged by IDF Terrorists. Four of the bombings at U.N. schools where citizens of Gaza were taking shelter. OUSD, with a large population of Arab and Muslim families, should have condemned those actions where missiles, made in the USA, are used to destroy Palestinian children's bodies and lives while at school, to escape the bombs dropping on their homes. Instead, you condemn the teachers of this district risking their jobs and safety, to teach Oakland public school students about justice and freedom for all of Palestine, including the citizens of Israel, who are also not free while their govt. runs an Apartheid system an open-air prison in Gaza, and settlers carry out pogroms in the West Bank with our tax$$'s. Pass a permanent ceasefire resolution!

I am a student at Oakland high and I support the call for a ceasfire in Gaza. Standing idly by and doing nothing while their is a genocide being funded by our nation is unacceptable. I want to learn more about palastine in class from sources that my teachers pick that they believe are trustworthy. To try and censor what is going on in palastine is to be complicite in this genocide.

I am an OUSD community member writing to demand that the board schedule a special meeting next week to discuss and vote on the Permanent Ceasefire Resolution no. 2234-0159 . The Israeli military attack on Gaza has led to over 18,000 deaths, more than half children. OUSD students, families and staff have lost family members and are directly affected by this humanitarian crisis.
OUSD is adopting a harmful culture of silence by failing to ensure our Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim families feel respected and acknowledged as valued members of our community during this crisis. Instead of standing with families, OUSD has engaged in racist scapegoating, portraying community support for the resolution at board meetings as a threat to public safety, after giving contradictory excuses for why the 12/13 board meeting was canceled.

I am against genocide. What Isreal is doing is abhorrent and absolutely meets that criteria. Bombing children, targeting and killing thousands of innocent civilians. This is not a war, a war implies multiple parties fighting each other. This is a massacre, a genocide, where one faction is murdering as many people as possible that have never done anything to them. I am a student at Oakland High school, and find it paramount that our teachers continue to teach us about this crucial topic that is one of the worst atrocities that has occurred in my lifetime.

We need to make it clear that we want a Ceasefire now. As a Jewish parent of ousd I want ousd to show the students we stand on the side of justice. That small actions make large impacts. A key life lesson for students.

I support a resolution calling for a permanent cease fire in Gaza and I want my children to learn about the Occupation of Palestine in their school. I further condemn efforts by Mike Hutchinson to manipulate this process in order to pander to a small, reactionary faction that does *not* represent the majority of Oaklanders in our schools. It is appalling and unconscionable that any school board member would support the genocide of Palestinians, the majority of whom are children. The OUSD school board must take an ethical, moral stance in support of the welfare and safety of thousands of endangered Palestinian children, and further, must distance itself from the reactionary and increasingly unbalanced behavior of its President.

I support any resolutions and actions that call for a ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank to stop Israel's state sponsored killing of children. I support my children learning about the conflict, assault and occupation of Palestine from unbiased sources selected by their teachers.

We need to stand in solidarity with our Palestinian and Jewish brothers and sisters. Islamophobia and Antisemitism is on the rise. We need to the right to vote in a ceasefire in order to achieve real peace. Stop the killing!

I am an Oakland resident, parent, educator and proud anti-Zionist Jew. I stand with AROC and their efforts to support ALL student in OUSD. OUSD has the responsibility to protect all of its students and cannot prioritize one group over another. Stop vilifying our Muslim and Arab brothers and sisters.

Show courage and respect. Debate the resolution on a ceasefire and adopt it. I speak both as someone who taught in Oakland Adult Ed full time for over 20 years and as someone of Jewish descent.
