I.-3 23-2814 Adoption by the Board of Education of Resolution No. 2324-0163 - Identifying Brookfield Elementary As The First School In Cohort 1 Of Sustainable Community Schools School Redesign.
please approve this resolution for Brookfield. They have been doing great things over there and should get this re-design boost for building a real community school
Brookfield needs this support after being under fire we deserve this. I'm a parent volunteer and a bacr employee at Brookfield and I can tell you by first hand this school is the best and has so much to offer.
Truly grateful that all of our hard work is being taken notice of, this proposal seems to be in perfect alignment with what we as a community has already voiced interest in for our beloved elementary. We want our children to receive the best we as a community and city can offer, by giving them an introduction to climate change, STEM, greenhouse planting and other life sustaining lessons we believe we're giving our children the best chance for survival and for making an impact on the world. Through collective service, long organizing and a unified front between teachers parents and supporters of Brookfield it is nice to finally see the board as a solidified partner now too.
Please let's keep building and growing to best serve our children which as a community is ultimately serving our future.
I support Brookfield's Community School designation as they have shown already that they are a community that gets things done. However, I am deeply concerned that the community is being left out of the planning. There need to be more community meetings where all voices are heard. The planning so far has been largely between one person with the district. Brookfield is already a leader in climate education and action: they have gotten trees planted as a barrier to the freeway - which they did even as the District was planning on closing the school. Teaching about climate is best done through taking action, as Brookfield does. The Environmental Justice Caucus of the OEA has supported just such hands on education as the strongest basis for deep learning and commitment. Let Brookfield's whole community be heard and let them lead us to a model of sustainable schools.
Please support Brookfield students!!!
