T.-61 23-1326 Approval by the Board of Education of a Services Agreement 2022-2023 by and between the District and Safe Passages, Oakland, CA, for the latter to facilitate the implementation of the Joyful Schools component of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) plan to re-engage students and families post-pandemic, including coordinating outreach to families, organizing family engagement events to increase family connection to schools, and facilitating and organizing student engagement activities to increase student connection to school at Coliseum College Preparatory Academy, for the period of April 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00.
CCPA, with the support of Safe Passages, has been implementing the work of full service community schools for many years. We have the opportunity to expand the scope and depth of this work with the CCSPP grant in partnership with Safe Passages. The approval of these funds is imperative for the continuation and expansion of our work through our Family Resource Center, Extended Day Program, mental health supports, and so much more that focuses on the district's priority of joy. This work is part of the foundation of our success in graduating students who are strong members of their community.
Safe Passages is the long term community partner of CCPA. It's hard to separate the two on our campus. We grow students through our shared programming. Through Safe Passages, kids experience extended day, a large portion of summer programming, a large portion of mental health support, our whole Family Center which is critically important to CCPAs model, additional arts and workforce development programming as well as community events. We work together to serve our community year over year.
More specifically, Safe Passages is meeting the Joyful Schools part of the community schools grant as chosen by the CCPA community. Our Family Center is engaging our new CCPA families in connecting with their new community. Safe Passages supervised MSWs are working with students and setting up plans. And, two classes of workforce development are happening daily in addition to our OUSD funded summer program. We are collectively providing summer programming to over 200 students this summer.
The proposed contract will support the ongoing partnership with Safe Passages to increase support for students and families through a comprehensive menu of services and activities designed to create greater connections to school and improve outcomes for students. Safe Passages provides services through the CCPA Family Resource Center, Extended Day and Summer programs, community events, family engagement, student interventions, mental health, social emotional development, youth development, enrichment, and workforce development. Safe Passages has been in partnership with CCPA for over 20 years.
