T.-24 23-0742 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Services Agreement 2022-2023 by and between the District and Jayne B Company dba Marker Learning, Hoboken, NJ, for the latter to provide virtual Cognitive and Achievement psychoeducational evaluations for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or suspected of requiring an IEP in order to determine special education eligibility, beginning with assessment of backlog that accumulated during COVID-19 school closures, via Special Education Department, for the period of February 27, 2023 through June 30, 2023, in an amount not to exceed $49,975.00.

    I wish this were not necessary. I wish that our own psychologists had manageable caseloads and adequate supports. I want this to be understood as a stopgap that does NOT substitute for the fair contract OEA is attempting to secure for special education psychologists. AND...this is necessary. Children in Oakland are going without critical special education services that families are begging for, services for which we are ABUNDANTLY CONFIDENT that they will qualify--because the psychologist simply can't get to their assessments until she finishes ten others.
