Eastmont Neighborhood Council supports the resolution for Adult Education and a Resource Center at the shuttered Parker school site. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the Lead agent to bring much needed services (some of which were formerly provided by the County at Eastmont) back to D6 and specifically Neighborhood 30Y. We are extremely concerned about the atrophy of services historically located in this community and the current impacts of the long void in which ECE and Adult Education has been absent in D6. We see a direct correlation between the extent to which D6 receives/doesn’t receive these services and the crime and violence rates in D6. We appeal to you to Recognize the damage and to help us repair the harm bestowed on D6 and D7 due to failure of the County and OUSD to provide pathways for youth into labor and other lucrative job careers. Please approve the resolution before you to expand Adult Ed to Parker.
