1-this format is not participant friendly. I don’t speak your organizational language. I’d bet I’m not the only one
2- The way you’re engaging with community members is dismissive and condescending- with decisions and made and with how you interact with community speakers. Interrupting and saying “thank you” is not thanking anyone. At the start, remind speakers of the time, and when they’ve run out of time POLITELY and with humility notify that the time period is over. Stop dismissing our students, our parents, and our community.
Over the past weeks, we have been hearing at Board and Committee meetings about the situation of a student at an OUSD authorized charter school who has had difficulty getting an appropriate education and IEP in place, including the compounding difficulties of who to turn to for support, given that the Charter School in question is not a member of the local SELPA. Instead, the supervising SELPA is miles away to the North and hired an evaluating psychologist to fly in from Los Angeles. Please require renewing charter schools to join the local SELPA to avoid this foreseeable harm.
