My name is Karl Langer and I am a 10th year teacher at Madison Park Academy. On Thursday, September 15th, we learned that the district is cutting funding for 1.4 FTE teacher positions at our site, based on our 20 day enrollment.
For context, 4 days earlier we experienced a traumatic accidental shooting. As many of our parents cried out for more support and investment in MPA, district representatives voiced their support. You understand, parents, students, and staff were assured that district would be paying attention and providing. To so quickly turn to consolidation is so tone deaf that I have to question if the decision-makers here were actually aware of our situation.
Blowing up our master schedule and sense of normalcy, disappearing from the eyes of our students a trusted faceāthis will not help our students and staff feel safe, or help us to rebuild our enrollment.
Will you reconsider supporting MPA, or continue to pursue this consolidation?
