i am commenting on the "COVID Update" which is part of the Superintendent's Report. The one-slide report is missing ANY data on the number of COVID cases occurring with the return to school. Last year, cases increased after vacations and travel, so it it critical to know how many cases are occurring after summer vacation and with the highly contagious BA.5 variant prevalent in the community. I was further very surprised and disappointed to learn that the COVID dashboard which appeared on the OUSD website last school year has been "retired" and I have learned there will be no public reporting of COVID student and staff cases this year for OUSD. How are families supposed to understand how COVID is spreading specifically in our schools and the risk to our students, especially with masks now optional, if this data is no longer made available? This is a huge loss of transparency and accountability to learn how much at risk our students are as variants spread.
