I have major questions about this proposal, especially as it happens to apply to a co-located charter.
The issue is not that repairs and modernization shouldn't happen, but that OUSD should also be treated fairly with respect to the financial aspects of the lease and the proposed construction. Over the years, I have observed the district granting Prop 51 leases that substantially reduce the rent (which is already low under Prop 39) while not being clear on how the district is relieved of responsibility for the repairs in the specific case and with a specific fiscal analysis. While I understand this is simply an application, I hope that as the process moves forward, these specific details can become explicit and especially that a collaboration with the co-located district school occurs as well.

As a staff member working with Cox Academy, I know how vital Cox Academy is to the Elmhurst community. Until significant repairs (especially to the heating and roofing) are implemented, students and staff will experience adverse effects. Please help OUSD by supporting our application to get state money to pay for the repairs and upgrades. Your support can save OUSD millions of dollars and get the building fixed!
