    Extracurricular activities (i.e., activities that take place outside of the classroom) provide a critical context for fostering the social inclusion of youth with disabilities and providing social/emotional support. Federal law (IDEA) explicitly ensures students with disabilities access to extracurricular activities. As stated in the proposed resolution, students with disabilities often require dedicated staff support and investment to access extracurricular social-emotional and academic support services. OUSD must have a process for planning, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of this support and investment.
