My son is a rising 3rd grader at Emerson Elementary which was one of the schools piloting EL Education this past school year. I can't say enough good things about this curriculum (and I never thought I would say that about any public school curriculum). It is centered around four modules and the students spend several months in each. Every child is encouraged and can contribute to the lessons, no matter their reading or writing skills. And the modules are interesting! This year my son's class has explored schools around the world (jungle, boat, etc.), Mary Anning and fossils, and pollination and the plant life cycle. I see how engaged the students in his class are with the subject matter and how the conversations at the heart of the curriculum get students of all backgrounds and levels share with each other and build skills together. My son does well academically but fights writing almost anything and this curriculum got him interested enough to self motivate and write. Please vote yes
