T.-3 21-0827 Presentation to and discussion with the Board of Education, by the Superintendent of Schools, or designee, of the proposed revisioning of the District's Alternative Education Program.
I am very concerned that the titling of this item references only a discussion of the Alt Ed Program, while the presentation itself references Cohort 3 and other aspects of the Citywide/Blueprint processes. I do not see how considered academic planning can happen under the timeline that was designated for Cohort 3 by the previous board.
The goal of offering more alternatives to students is laudable. At the same time, various alternative education programs may have specific legal requirements --which is why they are typically smaller programs in many districts, and may not be amenable to being combined. Smaller programs in and of themselves also often offer a respite and have a neuropsychological benefit for the students attending.
