I noticed in the memo for Budget Prioritization that Central Kitchen is listed for $1.7 million. It is not clear if this is an ongoing projected cost or a one-time cost, nor what staff or programming it covers. At a time when you are reducing educational services to students it is critical to make this information explicit, especially given that district communications when Central Kitchen was in the planning stages discussed the project as not encroaching on the general fund. Some of the programming planned for Central Kitchen (eg Model Farm) would amount to a new initiative which is not appropriate at this time. Finally, there should be a plan for the UGF to be reimbursed from savings accrued to Nutrition services (should there be any) through the use of Central Kitchen.
