The Tilden Information Sheet incorrectly states that "the program closed in 2010 due to low enrollment of K-3 students and poor facility conditions." The reason then provided by staff was the percentage of Special Education students as compared to General Education students at the school. With both groups of students, the classrooms were FULLY UTILIZED--the number of students in SDC classrooms is by definition smaller. Tilden was also implementing a re-design plan when the decision to close the school was made. OUSD had committed to grow Tilden as an inclusion Pre-K to 5 model school and reneged on that commitment with the decision to close.

The statement that "the entire pre-school and general education programming . . . moved to the
Burbank campus" is false. The pre-school SpEd classrooms/students went to Burbank while the K to 3 SpEd classrooms/students were moved to 6 different school sites. General Education students were re-assigned to schools on an individual basis.
