MEETING RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

The timing of this meeting makes community engagement prohibitive. Reschedule this meeting to a time when families, educators and community members can engage. Teachers who have just gone back to the classrooms cannot participate in this discussion at all.

As many have already stated, it is undemocratic and inaccessible to hold a meeting during the day when students and their school communities cannot attend. It is clear the Board does not care about community input for action items that would lead to more privatization of education for Oakland students. We cannot lose essential programs like libraries, restorative justice, foster student services, or
APISA. Nor can we lay-off crucial classified workers. Oakland students deserve better.

I urge the board to reschedule a meeting about such important budget cuts to a time when the community of teachers, parents, and students can actually attend. Please reschedule for an evening meeting.

This is undemocratic. School Boards should absolutely not be allowed to hold meetings at 10:30, and definitely not when they are cutting positions

Please postpone this meeting at least one week, and host it in the evening.

AB1840 scares me so much. No amount of raise, 11% or 110% can quell my fears that Frick and similar schools will be phased out before most of the strike agreements take effect.

I can also imagine some of you want to avoid the masses because you feel unsafe. Not all of want to scream and block doors. Many of us, including a largely unheard student body just want to talk, learn what we can, and prepare for what's next.

This meeting must be rescheduled! Holding it at this time is inherently inaccessible and undemocratic

Please reschedule this meeting, which is currently scheduled to take place at an unreasonable time.

The board is voting on cuts to services that directly impact students and their families. It is wrong to hold the meeting during the school day, when most of those students and families will be unable to attend to voice their concerns.

As others have noted this meeting is inaccessible to most parents, teachers and other community members. Postpone to an evening meeting.

    Please cancel this meeting.

The Board's decision to hold the meeting at 10:30 when the community can't attend and debate the issues is undemocratic and unacceptable. If the board truly seeks input from the community, you will schedule the meeting at a time that most people can attend.

As an Oakland educator and voter, I am appalled that you would schedule a contentious meeting at 10:30 in the morning when most people cannot attend. I urge you to cancel it and reschedule. The teachers and community need a chance to give input on any budget cuts.

I am fundamentally opposed to the school board holding a meeting at a time when most working parents cannot attend, and if the TA is ratified, when teachers and students would not be able to attend. Holding this meeting during school hours does NOT represent a good faith effort to get public feedback on agenda items. I am very disappointed in the school board for doing this.

As an Oakland resident and a Berkeley educator, I am opposed to this board meeting of OUSD and urge you to cancel it and reschedule. At this time, the Oakland Teachers Strike is still not settled. The teachers and community need a chance to give input on any budget cuts and the terms of the pending contract needs to be honored. Also, no meeting is worth choking someone. Check yourselves

    Please cancel tomorrow's meeting.

Holding the meeting at 10:30 when the community can't attend and debate the issues is undemocratic and unacceptable.
Instead of taking actions to engage the community and find common ground, this school board is choosing to take actions that further push the public out of the debate.
Please tell me what you are going to do to rebuild trust between this school board and the community (students, teachers, parents, librarians and support staff).

I lived in Oakland for many years. i have close ties to this school district. I am opposed to this board meeting and urge you to cancel it and reschedule. At this time, the Oakland Teachers Strike is still not settled. The teachers and community need a chance to give input on any budget cuts and the terms of the pending contract needs to be honored.
