18-2570 Discussion by the Board of Education with the Superintendent of Schools, or designee(s), and the Public, regarding potential criteria for Long Term Lease of District Facilities to Charter Schools, pursuant to Education Code requirements, and, as part of the portfolio of schools, pursuant to Board Policy - BP 6006: Quality School Development: Community of Schools.
BP 6006 distorts the Oakland School Boards relationship to its public schools and its BP 6006 treats privately managed charter schools defining as equivalent to its public schools. Policy doesn't recognize State charter law makes charters the Board's competitor. The Board's fiduciary duty is to its principle or its enrolled students when the interest of both are in competition. Why can't Board's Long Term Lease policy wait for Gary Yee taking office in January?
